Thanks so much Damon! That sounds about right....maybe I will try to go in and order one and see what happens. Otherwise, I will just make one at home. Thanks to your mom too!

i checked with my mom. she didn't recall the sprouts either. all she remembered was guacamole, cucumber, tomato, and, of course, cheese. she did say that when my late grandmother (also a huge veggie cheese melt fan) was visiting in 2003, the two of them went to a denny's and requested cheese melts, which denny's made, despite their absence from the menu. so that might be worth a shot.

i didn't remember the sprouts. onion sounds right--there was definitely something that gave it some spice (though perhaps the onion was in the guacamole). i'll ask my mom and see if she remembers.

Hi Damon,
With regards to your comment about the Veggie Cheese Melt – I love that sandwich too! I have been racking my brain trying to remember what exactly they put on that sandwich – so far I have come up with : cheese, sprouts, cucumbers, onions?, avocado/guacamole, maybe tomato? That is all I can remember – and of course it has been so long, that even these items could be wrong. Do you remember what they put on them? If so, will you let me know?
Thanks!
