Go to the Movies Tonight!

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Tonight’s STIFF lineup features my two favorite of the festival’s movies thus far: the delightful Frank & Cindy (7:00 at the Capitol Hill Arts Center), and, of course, my own Haymaker & Sally (9:30 at the Central Cinema). If you must choose only one, choose Haymaker & Sally, but I recommend both. And do review them (and any others you see), so that you can have a voice in who wins the audience award! (All you have to do is sign up for an account on the STIFF page–very easy to do.)

Haymaker & Sally poster

Everyone’s favorite buddy cop movie now has its own IMDB entry!* Visit the page, add trivia, rate and review the movie, and generally just bask in the glory of our renegade buddy cop bonanza clearing another bar of establishment. Similarly, you can visit our STIFF page and rate and review the movie there as well, so that those considering attending Wednesday’s screening will get an idea of its awesomeness.

Speaking of, come to Wednesday’s screening! It’s at 9:30 PM at the Central Cinema at 21st and Union. You can have pizza and beer while you watch! We’re expecting a big turnout, so buy your tickets ahead of time or get there early!

*Apologies to those whose characters are listed under the page of an actor who shares your name–rest assured I’m working on getting it fixed.

Everyone’s favorite buddy cop movie, Haymaker & Sally, has been accepted into Seattle’s True Independent Film Festival (STIFF), putting it in the running for the coveted Golden Stiffy. Additionally, the movie has a brand new webpage, the work of design master and H&S actor Scott “Pinto” Pendergraft. Those needing graphic and web design services should look no further than Pinto–he does top-notch stuff. You can find more of his work here.

The reviews are in, Readers, and it seems Haymaker & Sally is a hit!

Print Media:

“With enough crass dialogue to make Tarantino blush and more gunfire than the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan, the film succeeds due to its adroit pacing, silly-but-smart one-liners, a gloriously realized undercurrent of sleaze, and a bearded Special Forces villain (played by Reid himself) who’d whoop John Rambo in a staring contest.

The Seattle Weekly (emphasis theirs)
(Be sure to read this review—it’s the best summary of the movie I’ve read)

The Blogosphere:

“Isn’t destined for Cannes any time soon…some great one-liners and hysterical performances.”
B.W.o.P.

“Super cool graphics…the writing and performances were terrific”
Medusa’s Castle
